Tom started his career working for one of the renowned Portland stone quarries. It was soon clear that he had a talent for both the clean lines and geometry of masonry, and the artistic flair for carving. In his first year of masonry Tom was awarded First Place in both The UK Masonry Skills Challenge and The Skill Build National Final, gaining him a place on the UK squad for The World Skills International Skills Competition. He went on to achieve First Place a further two years in a row for The UK Masonry Skills Challenge, along with an array of other awards.
In May of 2013, after 4 years on Portland, Tom and his wife Amy, uprooted and moved to Ottawa, Canada, to work on the prestigious West Block Rehabilitation Project of the Canadian Parliament Buildings. Here Tom developed his skills as a site mason, completing complex architectural and carving indents, along with conservation work and fixing. Having been back in the UK for just over 2 years now, Tom now provides his customers with bespoke, quality stonework by a true craftsman.
